You are welcome to join us at any time once you have visited a doctor whatever stage you are at with a diagnosis and you even may be encouraged by your doctor to use our pain management services, or similar. You can speak to your doctor at the time of diagnosis to discuss alternative ways of managing your pain and providing relief.
Assuming you have already spoken with your doctor or health professional concerning your pain management, and if you were exceptionally lucky you may have been offered a pain management programme alongside medication, but effective programmes are few and far between on the NHS. Our pain management programme doesn’t replace treatment by your doctor or health professional but can help alleviate pain by working in synergy with your treatments.

Our pain management programme run by Alexa Warner, someone who has lived with chronic pain and illness herself for decades and has spent years exploring the most effective methods of managing and resolving it through psychological therapies.
The strange thing about pain is that it is made in the brain, not the part of the body that we experience the sensation of pain. Yes even if it is your leg that is hurting, the pain you are experiencing is the result of your brains interpretation of stimulation from your leg area.
Unfortunately, the brain can become overreactive and messages through the body can get lost in translation. It is then that pain often becomes chronic.
By saying that pain is made in the brain, we are not saying that it is not real, or that you are imagining it, but that what you are feeling is very often not what you think you are feeling!
The aim of our pain management programme, whether for primary or secondary pain (this will be explained further when we first meet) such as fibromyalgia, arthritis, endometriosis, migraine, back pain or any other cause of your pain, is to give you back control of what is happening in your body through knowledge, support and mind/body exercises that will switch down the pain response, address your stresses and causes of ill health and increase happiness and satisfaction for what you do have in your life.
The reason why this programme is called the Healthful Mind is not that this is the name of the clinic, it is that having a mind that is focussed towards the health you desire not stopping the problems you don’t.
